Hurricane Irma remnants reach Atlanta
ATLANTA — The remnants of Hurricane Irma made their way to Metro Atlanta this morning.
Schools, government offices and businesses closed in advance of the storm. The city’s notoriously busy roadways were quieter than the typical Monday morning.
The city was under its first-ever tropical storm warning. And, Georgia Gov. Nathan Deal yesterday expanded an emergency declaration to include all 159 counties in the state.
Power outages were reported at various locations throughout the area, including in northern Rockdale and northern DeKalb counties. Power was quickly restored to both locations earlier this morning, sources said.
