Gwinnett commissioners reprimand Tommy Hunter for Facebook comments
Gwinnett County commissioners yesterday voted to publicly reprimand Commissioner Tommy Hunter for making comments some felt were “insensitive.”
On his personal Facebook page, Hunter called U.S. Rep. John Lewis, D-Atlanta, a “racist pig,” and described Democrats as “Demonrats” and “Libtards,” the Gwinnett Daily Post reported.
Hunter did not attend the meeting, the paper reported. The vote was in response to an ethics complaint filed by Atlanta resident Nancie Turner.
Commissioners accepted public comments in writing and via email from June 9 through June 16. In addition, those in favor of and those opposed to the Ethics Board’s recommendations were afforded a total of one hour each to present comments during the public hearing.
