Georgia State falls Appalachian State, 76-67

BOONE, N.C. — Georgia State couldn’t overcome a big first half deficit and fell to Appalachian State 76-67 on Thursday night at the Holmes Convention Center. Junior Isaiah Dennis scored a career-high 18 points, but the Panthers couldn’t overcome 12 Mountaineer 3-pointers.

Dennis, one of four Panthers to finish in double figures, went 9-of-13 from the floor, but 0-of-6 from the free throw line. Redshirt-freshman Jeff Thomas added 17 points, including 6-of-9 from the floor with three 3-pointers, while Kevin Ware added 11 and Jeremy Hollowell scored 10.

Georgia State fell to 12-5 overall and 5-3 in the Sun Belt, while Appalachian State improved to 5-13 and 3-4 in the league.

The Mountaineers were led by the Sun Belt’s leading scorer Frank Eaves who scored 25 points, knocking down five 3-pointers. Ronshad Shabazz added 20 points and Chris Burgess scored 12.
