ATLANTA — The Atlanta City Council wants an independent review of how personnel transactions were processed during the transition from former Mayor Kasim Reed’s administration to Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms’ administration.

The Atlanta City Council passed a resolution requesting to determine how hiring decisions were made and whether any sections of the personnel code were violated. The move comes after news reports about the hiring process that took place during the transition.

The resolution, approved on a 9-1 vote, states the results of the report from the city auditor or the ethics officer need to be provided to the council’s Finance/Executive Committee within 60 days of the resolution’s adoption.

“The introduction of today’s resolution requesting an independent investigation into hiring practices during the transition from the administration of Mayor Kasim Reed to the administration of Mayor Bottoms was necessary to ensure full transparency for all stakeholders, especially the public,” Council President Felicia Moore said in a news release.
