Busy polls, rain reported on election morning in Atlanta area
Election Day in Georgia started with rain for much of Metro Atlanta, but so far it appears the weather has not dissuaded voters from casting ballots.
Of course, topping today’s ticket is the heated gubernatorial race pitting Republican Brian Kemp, the current Secretary of State, against Democrat Stacey Abrams, a former state lawmaker vying to become the first black woman governor in the country. Libertarian Ted Metz could play the role of spoiler if he garners enough votes to send the race to a runoff.
In addition to the race for governor, voters can decide on five amendments to the state constitution.
Plus, voters in many jurisdictions statewide will decide whether to allow alcohol sales with brunch starting at 11 a.m.
