ATLANTA — Here are a few of the top headlines from Cobb-centric races in Tuesday’s primaries:
- State House District 40: Matt Bentley defeated Taryn Bowman for the Republican nomination; he faces Democrat Sandra Bullock, who knocked off a pair of candidates
- State House District 41: Deanna Harris defeated Bryan Almanza for the Republican nomination; he faces Democrat Michael Smith, the incumbent
- U.S. Representative District 13: David Callahan defeated Femi Akinkugbe for the Republican nomination and faces off against Democrat David Scott, who has been in office since 2003
- Kennesaw City Council Post 2: Tracey Viars picked up 58.7 percent of the vote to defeat Kemela Carlson
