Atlantic Station office tower a ‘Building of the Year’

The Building Owners and Managers Association(BOMA) selected 201 17th Street in Atlantic Station in Midtown Atlanta for a regional “The Outstanding Building of the Year” (TOBY) award.

The award was announced during BOMA’s recent Southern Region Conference in Charlotte. The 17-story, 350,000-square-foot office tower will now be judged against buildings from around the world.

BOMA Georgia in February honored the building and its sister property, the 25-story, 541,789-square-foot 271 17th Street, with local TOBY awards. 201 17th Street was judged against buildings between 250,000 and 499,999 square feet while 271 17th Street vied against towers between 500,000 and 999,999 square feet.

It marked the second consecutive year the towers were honored by the state association. With the state awards, the two properties were eligible for the regional competition.

“The competition has become more robust in recent years, and these accolades are a testament to the management team we have in place overseeing these two properties,” said John Gilb, principal at CBRE Global Investors, which owns the two buildings. “When it comes to office space in Atlanta, companies have a choice. But, these recognitions continue to reinforce that 17th Street in Atlantic Station is the place to be in Atlanta.”

Winners are judged based on a number of criteria, including community involvement, sustainability policies and operational procedures.

Both 201 17th Street and 271 17th Street are LEED® Gold certified. The on-site managers are Senior Real Estate Manager Jennifer Corbitt and Real Estate Manager Julie Hicks.

The final awards for the 2015 competition will be given out in June during the BOMA International Conference in Los Angeles. The international awards will be announced at the BOMA Awards Ceremony on June 30.
