Old Dominion’s Nationwide Truck Tour Rolls Into Sacramento

SACRAMENTO, Calif. (June 7, 2010) – Old Dominion Freight Line Inc.’s nationwide truck tour is rolling into Sacramento on June 9.

The Old Dominion Sacramento Service Center, located at 2920 Oates Street, West Sacramento, CA 95691, will host the seventh of 17 stops on the 2010 Old Dominion Truck Tour.

Customers and employees of Old Dominion’s nearby service centers and invited guests will have an opportunity to learn about Old Dominion’s history through interactive displays, historical artifacts and customized models, all housed in a custom-built rolling museum. In addition, the festivities, which run from 11 a.m. until 7 p.m., will feature food, games, outdoor activities and tours of the local service center.

“We are using the nationwide truck tour as an opportunity to thank our customers and employees for helping to make us the company that we are,” said Mike Souders, manager of the Old Dominion Sacramento Service Center. “We have such a unique and proud history, and the tour gives us an opportunity to not only share experiences about where we’ve been, but also talk about where we are going and what the future holds for the company.”

Earl and Lillian Congdon founded Old Dominion with a single truck running between Richmond and Norfolk, Va. Today, the company remains family operated, but as a global, publicly-traded company with 210 service centers and directly serves more than 48,000 points.

The 2010 Old Dominion Truck Tour kicked off April 21 at the company’s Greenville, S.C., Service Center. The tour will make stops at 17 service centers in 14 states throughout the country, concluding on Sept. 15 in Charlotte, N.C.

The rolling museum is hauled by a custom-crafted, one-of-a-kind 38-ton, hydraulic-enabled 2009 Freightliner® DD-15™ Cascadia.
