ATLANTA — U.S. Sen. Johnny Isakson, R-Ga., apparently fended off a primary challenge Tuesday and picked up a shot at a third term in the U.S. Senate.
With 52 of 159 counties reporting, Isakson garnered 77.6 percent of the vote. Derrick Grayson picked up 12. percent while Mary Kay Bacallao was in third with 10.3 percent.
Isakson was first elected to the U.S. Senate in 2004. He previously served in the U.S. House of Representatives and the Georgia General Assembly.
Isakson will face off against the winner of a three-way Democratic primary during the general election this November.
