ATLANTA — Today’s fire and partial collapse of Interstate 85 is a transportation and traffic crisis for the city.

“This is as serious a transportation crisis as we could have. The governor has been leading and we have been acting on it,” The Atlanta Journal-Constitution quoted Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed as saying. “Our primary concern, first and most important, is that no one has lost their life. And as we stand here right now, we think that’s the situation.”

Georgia Gov. Nathan Deal declared a state of emergency for Fulton County following the fire.
