ATLANTA — A Georgia State lawmaker will preview the 2017 Georgia General Assembly during an appearance before the Buckhead Business Association (BBA) the first week of January.
State Sen. Hunter Hill, R-Atlanta, will appear before the civic group on Jan. 5. Hill, a member of several high-profile committees such as the Senate Committee on Judiciary Non-Civil and the Senate Appropriations Committee, has served in the state legislature since November 2012.
The 2017 session of the state legislature kicks off Jan. 9.
Later in January, retired Fulton County Superior Court Judge T. Jackson Bedford will speak to the group on Jan. 26. Jackson served as a Superior Court judge since 1996, but did not seek re-election in 2016.
Both appearances are set for 7:30 a.m. at the City Club of Buckhead.
In addition, entrepreneur, New York Times best-selling author and part-owner of the Atlanta Hawks Jesse Itzler will provide the keynote address during the BBA’s Annual Luncheon at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 12, at the Atlanta Marriott Buckhead Hotel & Conference Center.
During the event, the BBA will bestow awards to difference makers in the Buckhead community, including Business of the Year, Entrepreneurs of the Year and Buckhead Business Beautification awards. The civic organization will also present the Sam Massell Bullish on Buckhead award, which the group last year renamed in honor of former Atlanta Mayor Sam Massell.
The BBA holds breakfast meetings at 7:30 a.m. most Thursday mornings at the City Club of Buckhead. Meetings feature a business, political or civic leader as a speaker, and topics usually include leading issues within the Buckhead community and Atlanta as a whole. Tickets for members are $10 in advance and $12 at the door; non-member tickets are $20.
