U.S. Rep. Tom Price, R-Ga., was among the potential candidates to meet with President-elect Donald Trump today, a transition team official said on a media call this evening.
The Trump team also met with U.S. Sen. Jeff Sessions, R-Ala.; Gen. Mike Flynn and others. A recent report in Politico indicated Price could be considered for secretary of Health and Human Services.
“Tom Price has been loyal to Donald Trump from the outset and his knowledge of health care is second to none,” the publication quoted a Republican source on the Hill close to the Trump campaign as saying. “Him being in contention for HHS secretary makes perfect sense.”
Price heads the House Budget Committee.
Tomorrow, Trump will be meeting with a diverse group of officials, including South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley and former National Security Advisor and Secretary of State Henry Kissinger.
