Clinton picks up Rhode Island, Trump wins in Alabama, reports suggest
Hillary Clinton will win in Rhode Island, while Donald Trump will win in Alabama, reports suggest.
According to reports from Fox News Channel, CNN, NBC News and The Associated Press, Trump was previously projected to win in:
- Indiana
- Kentucky
- Mississippi
- Missouri
- Oklahoma
- South Carolina
- Tennessee
- West Virginia
According to reports, Clinton was previously projected to win:
- Delaware
- District of Columbia
- Illinois
- Maryland
- Massachusetts
- New Jersey
- New York
- Rhode Island
- Vermont
The race remains too close to call in Georgia, Pennsylvania, Ohio and other key states.
Meanwhile, U.S. Sen. Marco Rubio, R-Fla., won re-election over Patrick Murphy. In Illinois, Democrat Tammy Duckworth unseated incumbent U.S. Sen. Mark Kirk, a Republican, while Richard Blumenthal, a Democrat, will win in Connecticut, reports indicate.
In Indiana, Republican Todd Young appeared poised to knock off Democrat Evan Bayh’s bid to return to the U.S. Senate. He served as a senator from 1999 until 2011.
Young will succeed retiring Sen. Dan Coats, R-Ind.
In previous races, Sens. Rand Paul, R-Ky., Patrick Leahy, D-Vt., Tim Scott, R-S.C., and Rob Portman, R-Ohio, won re-election, reports indicate.
In Georgia, U.S. Sen. Johnny Isakson, R-Ga., is leading Democrat Jim Barksdale and Libertarian Allen Buckley, according to the Secretary of State’s office. It remains to be seen whether he will eclipse the 50 percent mark needed to avoid a runoff.
