Former U.S. Rep. Paul Broun running for Congress in Georgia’s 9th district

Former U.S. Rep. Paul Broun is running for Congress. In an email to supporters, the Republican said:

As one of my most loyal supporters, I wanted you to hear the exciting news first.

This morning, I announced my candidacy for the U.S. House of Representatives in Georgia’s 9th district, and I’m writing you today to ask for your prayers and support.

I made this decision knowing this election won’t be easy. But I am running because our conservative values are under attack and have never been in greater jeopardy. We need a proven conservative leader who will stand up at all costs for our beliefs.

Broun served in the the House in the 10th Congressional District from 2007 until 2015, when he ran for an open Senate seat. U.S. Sen. David Perdue, R-Ga., ultimately won the race.
