Two running for mayor in Kennesaw
KENNESAW, Ga. — Voters in this North Cobb County city of approximately 32,000 will elect a new mayor on Nov. 3.
Derek Easterling and Debra Williams are vying to succeed Mark Mathews. Mathews opted earlier his year not to seek a third term as mayor.
Steve Creason and Jim Eaton are vying for the open Post 1. The winner replaces Cris Eaton-Welsh, who opted not to run for re-election.
In Post 2, Yvette M. A. Daniel is challenging incumbent Tim Killingsworth, who was first elected to the city council in 2007. George Grumbein, a former Kennesaw police officer, also qualified to run for Post 2, but he passed away in September.
Meanwhile, Jimmy Dickens, former Councilman Bruce Jenkins and Jon Whitmer are vying for the at-large Post 4. The winner replaces Williams, who resigned to run for mayor.
