Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport to host inaugural 5K on the 5th Runway

ATLANTA — Runners and walkers will have a unique opportunity tomorrow to race on the 5th Runway at the world’s busiest airport.

The inaugural 5K on the 5th Runway, hosted by Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport and sponsored by Delta Air Lines, will occur on Saturday, Oct. 17.

All proceeds will benefit the United Way of Greater Atlanta. The 5th Runway will be temporarily closed Saturday morning to accommodate the expected 2,500 race participants.

“We’re bringing together the community and resources needed to make Greater Atlanta better for the children, families and individuals who need us most,” United Way of Greater Atlanta President Milton J. Little Jr. said in a news release. “This event is not just about the individual health benefits for those who participate. We are making our community healthier by convening, connecting and catalyzing Greater Atlanta—and essentially the world to increase awareness of the community’s most challenging issues in a unique, fun and effective way.”
