Officials look to build park above Atlanta highway

ATLANTA — Officials in the Buckhead section of town are exploring a plan to build a park above a section of Georgia 400.

The 9-acre park would largely be located between Peachtree Road and Lenox Road. The new park would straddle the heavily traveled north-south highway and the MARTA tracks that run along the center of the highway.

“You want to have a park that’s in the middle of everything, and if you imagine yourself a bird flying above the commercial core of Buckhead, this is pretty much smack dab in the middle of it,” WABE-FM quoted Buckhead CID Executive Director Jim Durrett as saying.
