WRGA to broadcast Berry football, basketball games

WRGA will broadcast all of the Vikings’ football games and a number of men’s and women’s teams basketball games this season, Berry College announced this morning.

The station simulcasts on 98.7 FM and at 1470 AM in the Greater Rome area.

For the upcoming football season, Tony McIntosh will provide audio play-by-play and Dave Gardner will serve as analyst. WRGA will broadcast all 10 Viking football games.

Football broadcasts will begin one hour prior to kickoff and can be heard on both radio bands and streamed on the Internet. Each pre-game show will feature an interview with Berry College Football Head Coach Tony Kunczewski.

As for basketball, WRGA has committed to air 12 men’s and women’s games. The radio will also live stream on its website additional games not heard over terrestrial radio. A more detailed broadcast schedule will be released closer to the start of the basketball season.

Additionally, WRGA will air a 30-minute interview of selected Berry College staffers at 8 a.m. each Saturday morning. The interviews start August 29 and run through the 2015-16 academic year.

“We are very excited for this new radio partnership,” Vikings’ Director of Athletics Todd Brooks said in a news release. “WRGA has shown a genuine interest in growing with Berry College. This agreement offers many benefits to our athletic programs and to listeners. We are pleased to expose our programs to high quality broadcasts and to promote all of our teams on the weekly radio show.”

All of the WRGA audio game links will be accessible from Berryvikings.com. Lastly, Berry College intends to import the WRGA audio into all applicable home video webcasts.
