Atlanta COO resigning effective Aug. 6

ATLANTA — Chief Operating Officer Michael Geisler has offered his resignation, effective Aug. 6, 2015. Geisler has been with the city for nearly three years.

“Michael Geisler has served the City ably over the past three years. I thank him for his service to City of Atlanta residents, visitors and employees, and I wish him well in the next chapter of his career,” Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed said in a news release.

Geisler has served as Chief Operating Officer since January 2014, after he was chosen to replace former COO Duriya Farooqui.

“It has been a pleasure and an honor to serve Mayor Kasim Reed and the City of Atlanta,” Geisler said in a news release. “Under Mayor Reed’s leadership and vision, the City has been able to achieve major accomplishments and milestones, and has a strong relationship with the business community. We have much to be proud of.”

Deputy Chief Operating Officer Kristin Wilson will serve as Interim COO. Reed will announce a permanent replacement for the Chief Operating Officer position.
