Atlanta might rename street for Ted Turner

ATLANTA — A city councilman has proposed renaming a downtown street after CNN founder and former Atlanta Braves owner Ted Turner.

Councilman C.T. Martin is sponsoring the ordinance to rename a portion of Spring Street to Ted Turner Drive, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported. Spring Street would be renamed between Whitehall Street and West Peachtree Street.

“Almost anything he’s tackled he’s been a winner, and to have a street in our city that reminds people of that would be very significant,” WABE quoted Former Atlanta Mayor and U.N. Ambassador Andrew Young as saying. “He was one of the first people who understood that and decided this could be the broadcast base from which America could impact and influence the whole world.”
