ATLANTA — Fulton County Police Chief Cassandra Jones is retiring following a report she worked a second job.
Jones has been with the Fulton County Police Department since Dec. 17, 1979, and has served as police chief since Oct. 9, 2007. Assistant Police Chief Gary D. Stiles will serve in an interim capacity until a permanent replacement is named.
“We thank Chief Jones for her 35 years of service to the citizens of Fulton County, and extend best wishes to her on her retirement,” Fulton County Manager Dick Anderson said in a news release.
WAGA-TV reported Jones taught a college class on Thursdays and worked from home on Mondays. But, Jones declined to comment on the report to The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
“Those reports to me are too silly to even address,” the newspaper quoted Jones as saying said. “I have had a great career with Fulton County, and I’m not going to tarnish it with ignorance.”
