LogistiCare earns URAC accreditation for medical transportation

ATLANTA — LogistiCare recently became the first and only manager of non-emergency medical transportation to earn nationally-recognized URAC accreditation for quality in all of its operations.

To federal and state governments and managed care organizations, the accreditation assures that healthcare partners meet rigorous standards for operational integrity, consumer protection and patient engagement.

“LogistiCare should be commended for meeting strict quality standards,” URAC President and CEO Kylanne Green said. “It’s critically important for healthcare organizations to make a commitment to quality and accountability.”

The four-phase process examines more than 30 criteria though a lengthy application, desktop review, on-site review and committee review. LogistiCare sought accreditation for its operations servicing 40 states and the District of Columbia, and at corporate headquarters in Atlanta.

“When working to make sure the most fragile populations have access to essential care, our clients, members and community partners deserve a partner with a record of efficiency and accountability across every region served,” LogistiCare CEO Herman Schwarz said. “URAC accreditation validates the approach we take every single day. It’s unsurpassed in the industry.”

For the more than 17 million members LogistiCare serves, URAC accreditation ensures their transportation needs are entrusted to a safe, reliable and responsive organization. For healthcare organizations, accreditation assures that LogistiCare complies with all state and federal guidelines and is the best partner to effectively and efficiently service their members.

For local transportation providers, who on behalf of LogistiCare complete more than 54 million patient rides, URAC accreditation means over 5,000 small businesses can depend on LogistiCare to maintain and grow business.

As a nonprofit organization, URAC promotes healthcare quality through its accreditation, education, and measurement programs for entities such as hospitals, health maintenance organizations, preferred provider organizations, third-party administrators, and provider groups.
