Georgia State Home Basketball Game Times Finalized

ATLANTA — With practice just around the corner for the Georgia State basketball teams, game times for all home games were announced on Thursday. All Sun Belt Conference games will be played in a doubleheader format during the 2014-15 season.

Weekday doubleheaders will begin with the women playing at 5 p.m., followed by the men at 7 p.m. All weekend doubleheaders will tip with the women at noon, followed by the men at 2 p.m. All men’s games will start 30 minutes following the completion of the women’s game.

As announced by the Sun Belt earlier this week, Georgia State’s doubleheader with UL Lafayette on Jan. 24 will air live on ESPN3 as a part of the package.

The dates for a pair of “wild card” men’s basketball games to be televised on ESPN2 were also announced earlier in the week. The first ESPN2 telecast is Saturday, Feb. 7, with the second ESPN2 date set for Feb. 14. Georgia State will be on the road both of those dates, traveling to South Alabama and Texas State. Games will be selected at least 21 days in advance from one of the conference matchups.

All men’s non-conference games will tipoff at 7 p.m., with the exception of the Southern Miss game on Dec. 21, which will tipoff at 2 p.m.

Women’s non-conference weekday games will also tip at 7 p.m. while weekend games are scheduled to start at 2 p.m. The squad will host a pair of tournaments during the holidays. The GSU Thanksgiving Tournament will be held Nov. 28 and 30, followed by the GSU Holiday and Hoops Classic Dec. 19 and 20.

Head coach Ron Hunter’s defending Sun Belt Conference champions will officially begin preparations for the 2014-15 season on Friday, Oct. 3. It is the first official day teams can practice and will give the Panthers exactly one month to prepare for their first exhibition game on Nov. 3.

The women’s team, which hosts its lone exhibition game on Nov. 6, will start practice on Monday, Oct. 6. Head coach Sharon Baldwin-Tener begins are fifth season at the helm of a program that had its best conference record since her arrival in 2014.

Season tickets are now available for both the men’s and women’s games. Less than 120 men’s season tickets currently remain available for purchase in the lower reserved section. Season ticket prices in the lower section start at $165 for the general public and $132 for faculty and staff (who receive a 20 percent discount). Women’s season tickets start at $50 and $40 for faculty and staff.
