Kennesaw Parks Become Smoke-Free Zones

The Kennesaw City Council has approved an amendment to an ordinance which will ban smoking in city parks, making all 130 acres of city parks and trails smoke-free.

The historic City Cemetery was also included in the ordinance amendment. The ban includes all tobacco products as well as e-cigarettes.

The ban goes into effect on Oct. 1 and signs are now posted to make sure the public is aware. Voluntary compliance is being requested.

However, if smokers continue to violate the ban, they will be requested by staff members to put out their smoking material. Police officers will be called and will issue tickets and ask smokers to leave the parks only as a last resort.
