Georgia State Football: GSU Finalizes Three-Year Agreement with Georgia Dome

ATLANTA — Georgia State Athletics and the Georgia World Congress Center Authority have finalized the agreement for Georgia State to play its home football games at the Georgia Dome for the next three seasons.

This three-year agreement runs through the 2016 season, which is expected to be the final season of existence for the current Georgia Dome.

Georgia State has played its home football games in the Georgia Dome, which is located just minutes from the GSU campus, since the program’s inception in 2010. The largest crowd to see a Panther game at the Dome was 30,237 for the inaugural game vs. Shorter on Sept. 2, 2010.

The Panthers have six home games scheduled for 2014, beginning with the Aug. 27 opener vs. Abilene Christian, which will be the first FBS game in the nation for the 2014 season. New Mexico State, Air Force, Arkansas State, Georgia Southern and Texas State will also visit the Georgia Dome this fall.

Georgia State is one of eight Division I programs to play its home games in an NFL facility, along with Miami (Fla.), Pittsburgh, USF, Temple, San Diego State, Tennessee State and Massachusetts.
