Georgia State Basketball: Green Named to NABC Honors Court

ATLANTA-Rising Georgia State senior Ryann Green has been named to the 2013-14 NABC Honors Court, recognizing those men’s collegiate basketball student-athletes who excelled in academics during the past season.

A record number 895 student-athletes from 338 colleges and universities earned NABC Honors Court distinction. The NABC Honors Court recognizes the talents and gifts that these men possess off the court and the hard work they exhibit in the classroom.

Green, who spent the last three seasons as a walk-on for the Panthers, earned a scholarship for his senior season due to his hard work on and off the court last November.

In three seasons, Green has played in 54 games, making one start. He has scored 15 points, pulled down 31 rebounds, swiped 12 steals and dished out 10 assists.

As a junior, he played in a career-high 24 games, scoring 10 points, including the first field goal of his career. Green was often brought in to be a shut-down defender on the opposing team’s top player. He earned Dean’s List honors to go along with Athletic Director’s Honor Roll recognition as a sophomore.

“I am extremely proud of Ryann,” head coach Ron Hunter said. “He is a great role model on and off the court for our team. He works as hard as anyone in practice to make himself and his teammates better. In the classroom, he truly understands what it means to be a first-class student.”

Georgia State is about halfway through its summer practice schedule. The team will depart for Costa Rica on Aug. 7 to play four games as part of an international trip, while also distributing shoes with Samaritan’s Feet.
