Condemned Georgia man faces July 10 execution

Tommy Lee WaldripATLANTA A Dawson County Superior Court judge has ordered the Georgia Department of Corrections to carry out the execution of a man sentenced to die for the April 1991 murder of a 23-year-old man.

Tommy Lee Waldrip faces a July 10 execution by lethal injection.

Waldrip was sentenced to death for the April 1991 murder of 23-year-old Keith Evans in Dawson County. If executed, Waldrip will be the 32nd inmate put to death by lethal injection.

The GDC has one of the largest prison systems in the U.S. and is responsible for supervising nearly 55,000 state prisoners and more than 160,000 probationers. It is the largest law enforcement agency in the state with approximately 12,000 employees.
