AP: Deal wins GOP primary in Georgia
Gov. Nathan Deal has defeated a pair of challengers in Tuesday’s Republican primary, according to The Associated Press.
Deal will now face Democrat Jason Carter in the November general election. Carter did not have an opponent in the Democratic primary.
Deal, a former Congressman, faced a challenge from School Superintendent John Barge and former Dalton, Ga., Mayor David Pennington. According to the Secretary of State’s website, Deal had nearly 72 percent of the vote with just 7 of 159 counties reporting.
