Georgia State Basketball: Indiana’s Jeremy Hollowell Transferring to GSU
ATLANTA — Indiana’s Jeremy Hollowell, who started 15 games for the Hoosiers last season, has announced that he will transfer to Georgia State. The 6-8 forward becomes the second major transfer for the Panthers in as many weeks.
His paperwork has been accepted and he will start classes and practice with the Panthers this summer. Currently a sophomore, Hollowell will have two years of eligibility remaining on the court after sitting out the 2014-15 season due to NCAA transfer rules.
In 29 games for the Hoosiers, Hollowell averaged 5.7 points and 3.5 rebounds in 18.3 minutes per game. He shot 77.9-percent from the free throw line and dished out 28 assists. He opened the season with a 16-point effort against Chicago State and scored a career-high 18 against Evansville. Showing his versatility, he dished out a career-high seven assists against Notre Dame and pulled down 10 rebounds against Oakland this year.
“I have loved Jeremy since he and R.J. played ball together when they were 8-years old,” head coach Ron Hunter said. “Jeremy fits our system and style of play perfectly and will be a great addition to our program.
“We look forward to Jeremy arriving on campus this summer as we start to work with all of our players to help us reach out goals next season.”
Coming out of high school, Hollowell was ranked No. 41 overall and the No. 10 small forward in the 2012 class by Rivals.com. He was also ranked the No. 7 small forward in his class by Scout.com and the No. 42 prospect by the ESPN100. As a senior in high school, he averaged 23.9 points and nine rebounds per game for Lawrence Central High School.
He earned First Team All-State by the Associated Press while leading Lawrence Central to its first sectional title since 1998.
Last week, Hunter announced the transfer of Louisville’s Kevin Ware to the program. The duo will join early signees Jeff Thomas and Jordan Session as four newcomers to the team this summer.
Coming off its Sun Belt Championship and Postseason NIT berth, Georgia State will return three to the starting line-up for the 2014-15 season.
