Georgia Right to Life Praises Ban on Taxpayer-Funded Abortions

Georgia Right to Life (GRTL) Co-Executive Director Gen Wilson praised the Georgia Legislature for approving a bill that prohibits using taxpayer funds to pay for abortion services in Georgia.

“This is a very comprehensive bill,” Wilson said. “It prevents public monies being spent on abortion in any of the health insurance plans under Obamacare, or for state employees under their health plans.”

The measure, sponsored by state Rep. Darlene Taylor, R-Thomasville, and state Sen. Judson Hill, R-Marietta, now goes to Governor Nathan Deal for his signature. The measure does not prevent anyone from accessing abortion services; it just means they can’t use public funds to pay for them, according to GRTL.
