Pope: I’m not Superman

Pope Francis has been revered by many since being elected a year ago. But, he not Superman.

“To depict the pope as a sort of superman, a sort of star, seems offensive to me. The pope is a man who laughs, cries, sleeps tranquilly and has friends like everyone else, a normal person,” Reuters quoted Pope Francis as saying.

The 77-year-old Pope Francis was elected to the papacy after his predecessor, Pope Benedict XVI, stepped down. Born Jorge Mario Bergoglio, Pope Francis is the first pontiff from Argentina.
