Georgia State’s 2014 Football Schedule Finalized

ATLANTA – The first Football Bowl Subdivision game of the season and Georgia State’s first football game against in-state foe Georgia Southern highlight the Panthers’ 2014 schedule, as announced Saturday by the Sun Belt Conference.

The 2014 slate features six home games at the Georgia Dome and six road tests, including trips to Washington and Clemson.

Head coach Trent Miles’ Panthers kick off the 2014 season by hosting Abilene Christian at the Georgia Dome on Wednesday, Aug. 27, one day earlier than anyone else in the nation.

The highly-anticipated matchup with Georgia Southern, which begins play in the Sun Belt this fall, is scheduled for Oct. 25 at the Georgia Dome.

Georgia State begins the season with three straight home games at the Georgia Dome. Following the opener against Abilene Christian, the Panthers start conference play by hosting Sun Belt newcomer New Mexico State on Sept. 6.

GSU’s third straight home game is Sept. 13, when Air Force comes to Atlanta as the first non-conference FBS foe to visit the Georgia Dome.

After an open date on Sept. 27, the Panthers jump into the meat of their conference slate with a trip to UL Lafayette on Oct. 4, a home date against Arkansas State on Oct. 11 and a road game at South Alabama Oct. 18.

After the Oct. 25 Georgia Southern game, Georgia State faces back-to-back Sun Belt road tests at Appalachian State (Nov. 1) and Troy (Nov. 8). The season’s second open date falls on Nov. 15, and then the Panthers finish the season at Clemson (Nov. 22) and at home versus Texas State (Nov. 29).
