Georgia State Basketball: Fifth Annual Great Baby Race Scheduled for March 8

ATLANTA — The fifth annual Great Baby Race is set for March 8 and will take place during halftime of the men’s basketball game against Western Kentucky. Tip is set for 2:30 p.m. following the women’s basketball game at noon. Both games will air on ESPN3.

The Great Baby Race takes place on the court as babies compete on the 25-foot course. The rules are simple: the first baby to crawl across the finish line wins. Babies must only be able to crawl as any baby walking during the race will be disqualified.

The Georgia State marketing department is currently looking for contestants which much be between nine and 18-months old. Parents interested in signing up their baby can call Katey McCandless at 404-413-4171 or e-mail [email protected].

The deadline to register for the Baby Race is Friday, Feb. 28, at 3:30 p.m.

Each contestant will take home a GSU onesie with the winner receiving a three-foot trophy.

Those registering will need to include baby’s name, age in months, nickname, preferred jersey number (1-20) and onesie size.

The women’s basketball will return to the court on Wednesday facing UL Monroe in the Sports Arena at 7 p.m. The men will be back in action on Thursday, also facing UL Monroe at 7 p.m.
