Hall of Fame outfielder Ralph Kiner dies at 91

Hall of Fame outfielder and longtime New York Mets announcer Ralph Kiner has died. He was 91.

Kiner played for only 10 years, but hit an astounding 369 home runs before injuries cut his career short. He played for the Pittsburgh Pirates, the Chicago Cubs and the Cleveland Indians. He was elected to the Hall of Fame by one vote in 1975 in his final year of eligibility.

He was a member of the broadcast team for the New York Mets starting with their inaugural season in 1962. He was elected to the Mets’ Hall of Fame in 1984.
