Ga. Southern adds 17 on National Signing Day

Georgia Southern during Wednesday’s National Signing Day added 17 recruits, marking the program’s first Football Subdivision (FBS) class.

The 17 recruits join three already enrolled at the school, bringing the overall number of signees for Georgia Southern to 20.

The Eagles on Wednesday added five offensive lineman with an average height of 6 feet 3.6 inches and and average weight of 304.2 pounds. In addition, Georgia Southern added three junior college transfers on defense.

“We wanted to make sure these guys were committed to us when we came in (and) they knew we were committed to them as well,” the Savannah Morning News quoted new Eagles Head Coach Willie Fritz said. “A lot of guys kept their commitment during that three-week transition period even though they were getting hit on by a lot of schools.”
