Mercer football set for showdown with Jacksonville

MACON, Ga. – The final game time for the Mercer University football team has been set after the department of athletics announced kickoff against Jacksonville on Nov. 9 is slated for 3 p.m. at Mercer University Stadium.

The kickoff with Jacksonville will mark the second to last home contest of the year for Mercer, who is hosting eight games in 2013, making the Bears one of just three Division I Football Championship Subdivision team with eight home games this fall.

With a 5-0 record at home, Mercer is the only team in the Pioneer Football League with an unblemished mark at home and one of just 42 FCS teams in the country to defend its home turf to perfection. Mercer’s wins include a pair of victories over NAIA schools and a win over a Division III school.

The Bears look to keep that home winning streak intact this Saturday, welcoming Carnegie Mellon to town for a 1 p.m. kickoff at Mercer University Stadium.
