Brady Center vs. Nelson over small town’s gun law

ATLANTA — A battle in the national debate over gun control is taking place is a small North Georgia city of 1,300.

The Brady Center to Prevent Gun Violence in May filed a federal lawsuit against the city of Nelson, which earlier this passed an ordinance requiring all residents to own a gun.

“I don’t think there was ever any intention of the city of Nelson to enforce the ordinance,” The Associated Press on Friday quoted David Archer, a lawyer for the city, as saying. “I think it was a political statement that they made.”
