Cornyn: No budget, no pay

No budget, no pay.

That’s the position of U.S. Sen. John Cornyn, R-Texas, who introduced the “No Budget, No OMB Pay Act of 2013.” The measure, which isn’t likely to pass the Democratic controlled Senate, would withhold the pay for the director of the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) and other Senate-approved OMB officials each day President Obama’s budget is late.

“For 4 of the last 5 years, the President has missed the legal deadline for submitting his budget, and leading from behind has become the standard mode of operation,” Cornyn said in a statement. “The American people have been waiting 44 days to hear the President’s priorities.

“Texans don’t expect to get paid for a job they don’t do, and it’s time to start holding Washington to the same standards,” Cornyn added. “This Administration should do its job, meet its obligations, and submit a budget.”
