New FBI special agent in charge named for Atlanta

ATLANTA — Director Robert S. Mueller, III has named Mark F. Giuliano special agent in charge of the FBI’s Atlanta Division. Mr. Giuliano most recently served as the executive assistant director of the National Security Branch.

“Under Mark’s leadership, the National Security Branch has integrated intelligence into operations in ways that have fundamentally changed the way we do business,” said Director Mueller. “He has also played a critical role in building and improving relationships with other members of the U.S. intelligence community and with state, local, and federal entities. He will continue to make contributions to the Bureau and to our nation as special agent in charge in Atlanta.”

Giuliano entered on duty as a special agent of the FBI in 1988. He first reported to the Washington Field Office, where he worked on the Safe Streets and Gang Task Force and served on SWAT as an assault team leader. While there, he received the Director’s Award for Excellence in investigation as a distinguished recipient.

In 1997, Giuliano was promoted to supervisory special agent in the Violent Crimes Section at FBI Headquarters, where he was responsible for the fugitive and Top Ten programs.
