Super Tuesday comes to Georgia

ATLANTA — Georgians will head to the polls tomorrow as part of Super Tuesday, and a former congressman from the Peach State appears to be leading the pack of four candidates.

Former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney trails Gingrich with 24 percent, while 19 percent are going for former U.S. Sen. Rick Santorum, R-Pa., and 8 percent for U.S. Rep. Ron Paul, R-Texas, according to the poll.

The PPP poll also shows that 66 percent of Republicans in Georgia hold a favorable opinion of Gingrich, while 27 percent have a negative view of the former Speaker of the House.

According to The Associated Press, voter turnout during early voting is down about 31 percent from 2008 levels.
