Ralston, Cagle show support for charter schools
ATLANTA — State House Speaker David Ralston and Lt. Gov. Casey Cagle on Tuesday signaled their support for charter schools.
At the Georgia Chamber of Commerce's annual Eggs & Issues breakfast, Ralston indicated any such push would be a priority this legislative session.
In May, the Georgia Supreme Court on Monday ruled 4-3 in favor of seven school districts challenging the constitutionality of the Georgia Charter Schools Commission Act passed in 2008.
“We have to have change,” Cagle said. “We have to embrace change.”
