Deal: September revenue numbers up 5.6 percent

ATLANTA — September net tax collections in Georgia totaled $1.5 billion, an $80.6 million or 5.6 percent increase compared to the same period last fiscal year, state officials said Friday.

Through the first quarter of FY2012, net revenue collections totaled $4.1 billion, an increase of $272 million or 7.2 percent compared to last year, according to state statistics.

“This is the fifth straight quarter of positive net revenue growth over 3.8 percent,” Gov. Nathan Deal said in a news release. “While the continued trend of year-over-year growth for a third consecutive month is certainly a positive sign, we will continue to work tirelessly to promote job growth and maintain a conservative state budget. I am optimistic about the economic outlook for Georgia over the next several months, but there is still much work to be done.”
