Deal: Tattnall County receives federal disaster designation

ATLANTA — U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Tom Vilsack has decided that Tattnall County in March suffered “production losses great enough to warrant a Secretarial natural disaster designation,” state officials said Thursday.

The damages stem from a severe storm that occurred from March 26 to March 28 this year.

“Secretary Vilsack responded to our request in a timely manner, and for that I am grateful,” Gov. Nathan Deal said in a statement. “This designation will allow farmers to access emergency loans to help relieve some of the burden the storm caused.”
