DeKalb residents face property tax increase

DUNWOODY — DeKalb County officials are looking to raise property taxes.

The increase will vary depending on where residents live. At 17.55 percent, Dunwoody residents face the largest milage rate increase of any city or unincorporated portions of the county.

According to DeKalb County officials, millage rates are expected to increase by:

• Atlanta / 16.25 percent
• Avondale Estates / 14.45 percent
• Chamblee / 12.17 percent
• Clarkston / 13.73 percent
• Decatur / 7.27 percent
• Doraville / 7.88 percent
• Dunwoody / 17.55 percent
• Lithonia / 15.44 percent
• Pine Lake / 15.28 percent
• Stone Mountain / 7.09 percent
• Unincorporated / 8.90 percent

Officials are planning a pair of public hearings. The first meeting is scheduled for 10 a.m. on Tuesdayin the Maloof Auditorium, located at 1300 Commerce Drive in Decatur.The second meeting is scheduled for 6 p.m. July 12 in the Maloof Auditorium.
