Gwinnett commissioners fund utility relocation

Gwinnett County commissioners this week approved $1.4 million in funding to relocate water and sewer lines as part of upcoming work to Ga. Highway 316.

The Tuesday approval followed a vote by the Gwinnett County Water and Sewerage Authority during a special called meeting earlier in the day.

The roadway improvement project will involve grade separation underpasses at three separate intersections with Ga. Highway 316 — Collins Hill Road, Ga. Highway 20 and Hi-Hope Road. Bids are scheduled to be let by the Georgia Department of Transportation on July 22.

The utility work for the expected three-year project will include the relocation of 7,700 feet of six-inch through 16-inch water mains as well as 3,220 feet of six-inch through 10-inch sewer mains. The relocation work will be included in the Georgia DOT contract with the general contractor for the road improvement project and will be funded by Gwinnett County water and sewer funds.
