GBI probing stabbing of city councilman

The GBI is helping investigate the stabbing of a Nashville city councilman.

The Nashville Police Department on Friday asked the GBI to help probe the stabbing of 44-year-old Michael Elliot Richbourg. Authorities on Friday morning responded to a call of Richbourg “having been stabbed by a female at his residence,” the GBI said in a Monday statement.

Police found the city councilman and a 29-year-old woman — identified as Erin Hogan Robinson — inside the house; the woman had “no apparent serious external injuries (and) appeared to be in a state of shock,” according to a Nashville police statement quoted by WALB-TV. Both were taken to a local hospital, but have since been released.

“Richbourg and Robinson had been in a relationship and the motive and cause of the incident is still under investigation,” the GBI said. “There have been no charges filed or arrests made at the present time pending further interviews and examination of evidence collected at the scene.”

Anyone with information is urged to call the GBI Douglas Office at 912-389-4103.
