Suspect sought in Jefferson murder

The Jefferson Police Department, the Athens-Clarke County Police Department and the GBI are asking the public’s help in locating a man wanted in connection with the early morning murder of a woman whom he knew in Jefferson.

Anthony Tyrone Appling, 42,  is a  Black Male, 5 feet 10 inches tall and weighs 270 pounds and should be considered armed and dangerous. He was last seen in Athens where the victim’s vehicle was recovered, the GBI said.
