Price: Put term limits for Congress

A Congressman from Georgia wants term limits.

U.S. Rep. Tom Price, R-Ga., this week introduced H.J. Res 53, a Constitutional amendment “to enforce term limits on members of the United States Congress.” Under the proposed amendment, no one can serve as a senator or a representative for more than 18 years.

“One only has to look at the energy and fresh thinking of this Congress' newly elected freshman class to appreciate the importance of having a citizen legislature that is not entrenched in the ways of Washington,” Price said in a news release. “A government of the people, by the people, and for the people can best thrive if those who volunteer for elected office stay connected to the people.

“A term limit amendment to the Constitution would help ensure that connection is not lost,” Price added. “It would uphold a strong and truly representative republic so that America remains a nation looking forward and over the horizon to innovate and create a brighter future for all.”
The measure was referred to the House Judiciary Committee.
