Gwinnett authorities arrest suspected armored car robbers

ATLANTA — Gwinnett County authorities on Wednesday arrested two men suspected in a series of armored car robberies throughout metro Atlanta.

Gwinnett County Police said they arrested Stacey Lamont Dooley and Quinton Lamar Booker, charging both men with three counts of armed robbery in connection with a trio of robberies in the county. Dooley also faces two counts of conspiracy to commit armed robbery.

“The possibility of additional charges against these and other suspects is under active investigation,” Gwinnett County Police said in a statement.

In DeKalb County, charges could also be filed in the March 15 fatal robbery of an armored car in Toco Hills. In that robbery, a courier was shot and killed in a robbery outside a LaVista Road grocery store.

Authorities say the crime spree included eight armed robberies since last fall.

“The suspects' M.O. in these cases was to wait until the armored car guards were outside of their vehicle,” Gwinnett County Police said in a statement. “In all three of the cases in Gwinnett, the guards were refilling ATMs.”

In addition to Gwinnett police, authorities in DeKalb County and the FBI assisted in the investigation.

“Due to the (investigation) … the suspects were not able to complete any additional robberies, and were prevented from completing two which they had planned,” Gwinnett police said in a statement.
