Website: Former Clayton sheriff seeking re-election

Former Clayton County Sheriff Victor Hill is looking to return to his former office, according to a campaign website.

Hill was elected to his one and only term as sheriff in 2004; he ran for re-election in 2008, but was defeated by Kem Kimbrough. Prior to his controversial term as sheriff, Hill served in the state House.

In addition to a biography touting his record, the site includes a “Fact VS. Fiction” section that aims to refute criticisms Hill received while in office, including a decision to fire 27 deputies on his first day in office.

“Due to political tactics using propaganda and the media, a lot of false information was put out on former Sheriff Victor Hill during his first term,” a note on the website reads. “The media irresponsibly broadcasted these untruths often without verification, and never did a follow up to broadcast the truth.”

Kimbrough is planning to seek re-election, according to The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, which reported about the website’s existence.

The website indicates Hill is writing a book titled “The Keeper of the County.”
